Why should you wait for 24 hrs before applying facial hair removal cream again?

I saw this instruction on every hair removal cream but why. Will your skin get really irritated if you do that or something?
Like, if I put small amount on my face and it does not work, I have to wait for 24 hrs before trying again?
most facial hair removers are fairly caustic, and they can dry out skin badly.. They want you to wait so that you do not cause damage much like a chemical burn.

It says that but I really never follow those rules. It’s a precaution.

If overused this can harm the skin levels deeper than the surface. You might not even see the damage for a few years!
